Police Support Volunteers
Police support volunteers undertake a variety of roles to support and enhance the day-to-day work carried out by police officers and police staff. By offering their time and energy in these roles, theyhelp to reduce demand, resolve policing issues, enhance service delivery, and strengthen the links between policing and the community.
Nancy Karvela, inspector for Citizens in Policing, says: “Police support volunteers make a real difference: they bring their time, energy and skills, which together help us focus on keeping communities safe.”

Volunteer Police Cadets
Sergeant Darren Hall says: “Our volunteer police cadet scheme is one of the leading and most inclusive schemes in the country. Our cadets embody what teamwork, confidence, and community spirit really looks like: young people stepping up and making a real difference. Our volunteer police cadet leaders provide education, guidance and support to our cadets, without whom there would be no scheme.”
